Locus is a study timer that runs in your browser and keeps your data on your device by default, with an optional paid tier (Pro) that adds a few extras. By making an account or using it you agree to these terms.
The timer, your subjects and sessions, your streak, the sentry that keeps you honest about drifting off, and the basic version of Settings are free and stay free. You need a free account (an email and a password) to use the web version; the privacy page says what that involves. You must be at least 13 to make one.
Pro adds extras on top of the free app: a daily study plan built from your exam dates, topics with spaced review, a weekly report on your own log, two extra characters and five “Pro marks” earned by using those tools (kept apart from your badges, level and streak), the twelve-week review (how much time you've lost to drifting, and whether your pace gets you to your exam in time), the Locked strictness tier with a door that stays shut for a while after you walk out early, dates and exams past the free limit, exporting your log as a spreadsheet, and a few extras to make the app your own (accent looks, more sound mixes and pinned favourite songs). Everything Pro adds is built from sessions you already logged for free — Pro doesn't change how the timer works, only what it shows you about your own data.
Paid Pro lives on your account, but Pro can also come as a license key (a gift, say). Type it into the box at the bottom of the Pro page to switch Pro on for that device; a monthly key covers a month and a yearly key a year. A Locus key is a short code checked by arithmetic inside the app itself — no server is involved, which is also why it works with no internet connection. That makes it a convenience, not a lock, and I'd rather be upfront about it than pretend otherwise. Please don't share or resell keys.
What Locus stores and sends is covered in full on the Privacy page. In short: local by default, and nothing but your account and what you choose to share leaves your device. Keep your own backups (Settings → Your data → Back up); that button exists so you don't have to take this on faith.
Locus is a one-person project. It may have bugs, go down for a while, or change; features, including Pro extras, may be added or adjusted. If I ever have to shut it down I will say so in the app well beforehand, so you can take a backup.
Locus is provided as-is and as-available, without warranties of any kind, to the extent the law allows. To the extent the law allows, I am not liable for lost data, lost study time or indirect losses from using or being unable to use it, and my total liability for anything to do with Locus is limited to what you paid for Pro in the twelve months before the problem. Nothing here limits rights you have by law that can't be limited.
These terms can change as the app does; the date at the top says when. If a change matters, it is mentioned in the app. Carrying on using Locus after a change means you accept the current version.
