LCUS

The study timer you can't wander away from.

Locus runs a full-screen focus zone, notices every time you leave, and takes those minutes off the round. Then it tells you the truth about how you studied.

Free to use. Sign in once with your email. Your log stays on your device.

How it works

Every other timer keeps running whatever you do. This one notices.

Lock in

Pick a subject and press Lock in. The zone takes the whole screen, plays your music and hides everything else.

The sentry watches

Switch away and it is logged, with the minutes taken off the round, not just noted. Break glass always works: hold it, say why, and you are out.

Get the truth

Every session gets a focus score. Your streak, levels and badges are earned by studying, and your stats show what you actually did.

What's in it

Built for the weeks before an exam.

Your own music

Drop in your songs and they live in the app. Or link a Spotify or YouTube playlist, or use the sounds the page makes itself. Songs stay on your device.

Exam dates, up front

Add your exams and due dates and see what's coming on the home screen and in the rail, so the deadline is in front of you when you choose what to open.

A streak worth keeping

A gentle nudge in the evening while the run is still alive, rest days you earn by bringing people in, and a way back in after a long gap.

Friends, if you want them

An optional board where friends find you by username and see only what you choose to share: your name, streak and minutes this week. Off until you turn it on.

The crew

Five small characters. Only one of them is on your side.

Latch

Keeps the door. Bouncer energy, says very little, always on your side. Rival: Drift.

Drift

Smooth talker with a phone that never stops buzzing. Means well. Never right about time. Best friend: Mug.

Ember

Your streak. Competitive, hypes you up, quietly proud of every day. Earns sunglasses at 14 days.

Nib

The planner. Precise, slightly smug, actually helpful. Runs the study plan in Pro. Wears a graduation cap after 100 hours.

Mug

Runs the breaks. Tired, honest, cares a lot, and blunt about rest. Gets headphones at 50 hours.

And two more with Pro.

Sprout

Calm and patient. Grows a leaf, then a bud, then a flower as you get topics all the way to learned.

Comet

The analyst. Reads your week against the one before and says what to change. Loves a number a bit too much.

Free and Pro

The habit is free. Pro is for when you want the rest.

A paywall in front of the habit kills the habit, so nothing that makes Locus work is locked. Pro reads your own log back to you and adds a few extras.

Privacy

Your log stays on your device.

Locus saves your subjects, sessions and notes in your browser. What leaves your device is your sign-in and the small friends profile you choose to share; your study log only goes elsewhere if you turn on sync.

  • No analytics, no tracking pixels, no ad networks. Free users see a short film about Pro after some finished sessions, three a day at most, drawn on your device
  • Nothing sold or shared with advertisers
  • Payment happens on Stripe's own page, never inside the app; Locus never sees your card
  • Your XP, levels and streak are never for sale

Install

Put it on your home screen and it opens with no signal.

Once installed it has its own icon and no address bar, and your subjects, sessions and streak are all there offline.

iPhone or iPad

Open Locus in Safari, tap Share, then Add to Home Screen. It has to be Safari; that's Apple's rule.

Android

Open Locus in Chrome. It offers to install after a moment, or use the Install button in Settings.

Desktop

In Chrome or Edge, click the install icon at the right of the address bar.

Questions

Before you start.

Do I need an account?

Yes. The first time you open Locus on the web you sign in with a free account (an email and a password), and it can stay signed in on your device. It is how friends find you and how you get back in on another device. Your study log itself stays on your device unless you turn on sync.

Where does my data live?

In your browser's storage on your device. Clearing your site data starts you over unless you've backed up (Settings, then Your data), which is free.

What counts as leaving?

Switching to another tab or app while a round is running. Locus logs it and takes those minutes off the round. Studying on paper? Park your phone in another room and there's nothing to switch to.

What if I really do need to stop?

Break glass always works. Hold it, pick a reason, and you're out. The session is logged as broken, with no argument.

What does the Pro free week include?

Everything Pro adds, for seven days. No card is asked for, and it stops at the end rather than turning into a charge.

Lock in for one round and see what it says.
